Cooper Powell
4 games, 2 goals, 8 assists, 10 points
Avonworth Hockey Club is proud to nominate sophomore Cooper Powell for PIHL player of the month. A veteran in the organization, Cooper began the season as a forward, where he was one of our team's leading scorers. As the season continued, the team realized a need for an additional defenseman. Cooper gladly made the switch and stepped into that role admirably. Despite a change in roles, he continued his scoring pace leading our team with 10 points (2 goals, 8 assists) during the month of December.
Cooper is a leader on the ice and serves as the captain of his Pittsburgh Predators club team. He volunteers with the Avonworth Hockey Club Developmental team mentoring our young hockey players. As a student, he is enrolled in all honors classes and maintains a 4.19 GPA. Additionally, he is a member of the Avonworth Key club, an organization where members volunteer their time to perform service projects in the local area. We are proud of the contributions Cooper has made to our team thus far and are excited to see what the future holds in his next couple of years as an upperclassman.
Conner Ralston returned from a broken collarbone as if nothing ever happened. The junior forward on the Avonworth hockey team led the Antelopes to four wins in five games in November and was named the PIHL Class A Player of the Month. Ralston had 10 goals and five assists last month for Avonworth (9-2-0-0).
Gatti, Leffler, Moore, Ralston earn 2022-23 PIHL All-Star honors.

Our developmental program begins in kindergarten-6th grade. We anticipate one mite team (8U), one squirt (10U) team and one pee wee (12U) team. Our mite and squirt teams play an independent schedule and our pee wee team will play in the Scholastic League.
Our high school teams (JV/Varsity) and Middle School team will play in the PIHL.
We practice at our home rink, Baierl Ice Complex, 103 Marshall Dr. Warrendale, PA.
Our practice times are:
We use the Saturday slots for our developmental games but at times they become practice slots.
Varsity & JV: $2,200
Middle School: $1,500
PeeWee: $1,100
Squirt & Mite: $700
The developmental program will need to purchase a jersey at the beginning of the season with matching socks and they fees will range from $40-50.
You will need to provide 3 possible number choices. For the Middle School and High School teams will order their uniforms from K& B Outfitters.
The fees for jerseys are $110 each and you will also need game socks for $15—you will need both a home and an away jersey. Avonworth provides the shells.
In the developmental program, we have wonderful parent volunteers coaching. Each volunteer has to pass a background screening through USA Hockey and take the educational programs required through USA Hockey for their specific age group.
At the PIHL level we have paid, non-parent head coaches that also need to do the same screening and education requirements.
